Bhubaneswar, Oct 28: The beneficiaries of Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) will get their cards by the end of March 2025, Odisha Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling said on Monday.

“We will integrate state government’s Gopabandhu Jan Arogya Yojana (G-JAY) with Ayushman Yojana and issue one card for the both schemes by end of March 2025,” said Mahaling.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch phase – II of the AB-PMJAY tomorrow (October 29) that will include health coverage for all citizens aged 70 years and above irrespective of their income status. Odisha government will prepare modalities for the scheme soon. Odisha will be included under the scheme tomorrow,” he added.

The AB-PMJAY will benefit an estimated six crore citizens in about 4.5 crore households across the country.

Be it poor, middle class, upper middle class or rich, every individual who is 70 years and above is eligible for getting Ayushman card to avail free treatment up to Rs 5 lakh at any of the AB PMJAY empanelled hospitals once the expanded scheme gets launched, the Minister said.

The Ayushman Bharat card, also known as the PMJAY card, offers several benefits under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY). Here are some of the key benefits:

1. Health Coverage: Provides health coverage of up to ₹5 lakhs per family per year for secondary and tertiary care hospitalization.
2. Cashless Treatment: Beneficiaries can avail of cashless treatment at empaneled public and private hospitals across India.
3. Wide Range of Services: Covers a wide range of medical services, including diagnostics, medications, and surgeries.
4. No Cap on Family Size: There is no restriction on family size, age, or gender.
5. Pre-existing Conditions Covered: All pre-existing conditions are covered from day one of the policy.
6. Transport Allowance: Provides a transport allowance for hospitalization.
7. Empaneled Hospitals: Beneficiaries can access services at a large network of empaneled hospitals across the country.

These benefits aim to reduce the financial burden of healthcare expenses and ensure equitable access to quality medical services for economically disadvantaged families in India.
